The River Dolphins of Rio Negro

Before long, this larger one showed up and knew that there were some freebies handed out and it was happy to clown around a bit for that.

It followed back to the little barge where we were changing into swimwear.

This young lady, I do not remember where in Brazil she came from, was a pathologist who studied tropical diseases. I was half joking when I said that if she was ok to get into this river, which was actually remarkably clean, I would go in as well. I think her name is Isabelle, but I will verify that. The young man, Emerson, who is explaining his camera to our guide is from Brasilia and a government employee there.

Meanwhile, the guy from the barge was keeping our dolphin entertained

So here the whole gang is in the water. I look so excited, that maybe I thought I was going to get that fish.

Maybe my favorite shot here. There were two dolphins as you will see, and the do enjoy the touch. Their skin is thick and rubbery and their bodies are very muscular.

These were among the most memorable moments of my journey around South America
